Insurance Accreditation

Our Partners Around The World

Our school is an accredited member of the International Natural Therapies AssociationThe International Institute of Complementary Therapies, the Massage Association of Australia and the World Massage Federation. Our students can also join these associations after completing the course.

Every country has its own methods of being accredited in the local massage industry. In many cases such as Canada and the US this can vary between state to state or province to province or in some cases such as California between various counties.  We give you a brief run down of these different accreditations and government laws and related information here plus we give you contact details for the various insurance companies that cover us for public liability, professional indemnity and products prescribed or used insurance.

Australia

In Australia there is no government regulation of the massage industry as such. Anyone can call themselves a massage therapist and practice massage therapy for a living with no governmental requirements to do so.

However most insurance companies won’t cover you unless you have completed formal training. The companies we list here later on cover therapists that we have trained in the practice of Raynor massage.

In Australia, there is such a thing as government recognised training and Certification. This is not a requirement to practice but if you want to work with health funds by being able to give their clients health care rebates then you need to have the Government Cert IV in Massage or the government Diploma of Remedial Massage.

This usually takes between 6 months and a year to get the Certificate IV in massage and between one and two years for the Diploma of Remedial Massage. The cost of these courses at most schools is around $5000 to $8000 for the Certificate and about $8000 to $12000 for the Diploma.  This is an unnecessary expenses in time and money as only about 25% of people or less have the coverage where they get a rebate for massage and most health funds have recently reduced their amount they will pay annually to $150.

This doesn’t benefit the practitioner directly and we believe you are better off focusing your efforts on becoming a better and better therapist which will help you keep clients coming back and referring people to your for massage therapy treatments.

You can practice right away after completing our course and you can get insured . Here is a list of insurance companies in Australia that cover our graduates.

United States

Every state in the US has different massage regulations or in some cases no regulations. In California every county has different regulations concerning the practice of massage.

For up to date information about legislation to do with massage therapy in the US and Canada please see this link http://www.massagemag.com/laws/#

Basically people can practice Raynor massage with no other qualifications in the following states Kansas, Oklahoma, Vermont, Wyoming, Minnesota and parts of California.

In some other states such as Arizona a person can practice Raynor massage as long as they don’t use oil. This is a very easy way to practice here and in fact many Raynor practitioners don’t use oil in their practice anyway.

If you are legally allowed to practice in the state you are practicing in you can get insured through:

Jones & Mitchell

Phone: 1 800-926-8911
